Responsible gambling

Betting should be a bit of fun you can afford. Here is how to keep it that way, and where to get help if it stops being fun.

Everything on this site is for adults aged 18 and over. Betting on horses is entertainment with a cost attached, like a day at the races or a round of golf. Treated that way it stays enjoyable. Treated as a way to make money, it rarely ends well: the bookmaker’s margin is built into every price, and even a good tipster goes through losing months.

Keeping it in proportion

  • Decide what you can afford to lose each month before the month starts, and treat it as spent.
  • Bet in small, level stakes. Chasing a loss with a bigger bet is the single most common way a bad week becomes a bad year.
  • Keep a record. Our results log does it for our tips; do the same for your own.
  • Never bet with borrowed money, and never bet to pay a bill.
  • Take breaks. Every licensed bookmaker lets you set deposit limits, time-outs and reality checks in your account settings. Use them before you need them.

Signs it may be a problem

Betting more than you planned, hiding it from people close to you, feeling restless or irritable when you try to stop, going back the next day to win back a loss, or borrowing to fund it. If any of those sound familiar, the people below have heard it all before and will not judge.

What we do

We show 18+ and BeGambleAware messaging on every page, we only link to operators licensed by the Gambling Commission, we never aim content at under-18s, and we do not use “free money”, “can’t lose” or countdown-style pressure on any offer. If you think something on this site falls short of that, tell us.
