Horse Racing UK is a small independent desk that publishes racecards, form tools and one free tip a day for UK and Irish racing. The site launched in October 2026. It is built so that a punter on a phone, twenty minutes before the first race, can see the day’s meetings, the going, the non-runners and a shortlist worth a second look, without wading through pop-ups.
Who we are
We write under pen names. The people behind them are real, they bet with their own money, and they would rather their names were not attached to tipping in public. The bylines you will see:
- James Ashcombe, editor. Runs the desk, writes the morning line and the free daily tip, and looks after the festival guides and bookmaker reviews.
- Ellie Marsden, form and data. Builds the form tools and the stats behind them, and writes the guides on ratings, draw, going and headgear.
- Danny Rowe, markets. Covers prices, each-way terms, multiples and bookmaker offers, and will run the market movers tool when it launches.
- HRUK Desk is the byline on pages generated from the day’s data: racecards, results and the race previews. Those are produced by our build from the official declarations and checked by a person each morning before 09:00.
Where the data comes from
Racecards, results, going and the course list come from The Racing API under a commercial licence. We do not scrape bookmakers or other publishers. Horse, trainer and jockey pages are built from our own archive, which started on the day the site launched and grows every racing day; we say so on those pages rather than pad them with numbers we do not have.
How the site makes money
Through affiliate links to bookmakers. If you open an account through a link on this site, the bookmaker may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing. We only link to operators licensed by the Gambling Commission, we show the significant terms of any offer next to it, and the commission never decides what we write: the comparison table says “unverified” where we could not confirm a feature, and reviews list the limitations alongside the strengths. The free daily tip is free. We also run paid tipping services under other brands; where we mention them we say they are ours.
Rules we keep
- Every tip is settled in public at the advised price, winners and losers, on the results log.
- No “guaranteed” anything, no fake urgency, no claims about past profits we cannot show.
- 18+ throughout. Responsible gambling links on every page, and no content aimed at anyone under 18.
- Corrections are made in place and noted at the foot of the page.
